How to Compute Your General Average in SHS

SHS math is lighter than college, no credit units, no weighting. Here is the DepEd method:

Get the final grade for each subject

Use the final grade shown on your report card. It is calculated from your quarter grades, so there is no need to average them yourself. Just make sure you have the final grade for every subject before you continue.

Include every subject on your report card. In SHS, every subject has equal weight, so no subject counts more than another.

Divide the total by the number of subjects

The answer is your General Average. This is the final score used to measure your overall academic performance in SHS.

Example: If your grades are 90, 88, 92, 85, and 95, the total is 450. Divide 450 by 5 subjects, and your General Average is 90, which qualifies for With Honors if you meet the other DepEd requirements.
One important thing to remember: SHS does not use credit units. Every subject counts equally, so you only need to average your final grades. Some websites use the college formula, but that does not apply to the DepEd grading system.
