SHS GWA Calculator — SHS Grading System Philippines
If you came from a college GWA page, forget one rule here. In senior high school, the bigger number is better. SHS uses the grading system in SHS set by DepEd, where 75 is the passing grade, 90 qualifies for honors, and 98 is an excellent score. This calculator quickly finds your General Average using your subject grades. In college? Use our GWA Calculator instead.

How to Compute Your General Average in SHS
SHS math is lighter than college, no credit units, no weighting. Here is the DepEd method:
1
Get the final grade for each subject
Use the final grade shown on your report card. It is calculated from your quarter grades, so there is no need to average them yourself. Just make sure you have the final grade for every subject before you continue.
2
Add all your final grades together
Include every subject on your report card. In SHS, every subject has equal weight, so no subject counts more than another.
3
Divide the total by the number of subjects
The answer is your General Average. This is the final score used to measure your overall academic performance in SHS.
Example: If your grades are 90, 88, 92, 85, and 95, the total is 450. Divide 450 by 5 subjects, and your General Average is 90, which qualifies for With Honors if you meet the other DepEd requirements.
One important thing to remember: SHS does not use credit units. Every subject counts equally, so you only need to average your final grades. Some websites use the college formula, but that does not apply to the DepEd grading system.
DepEd Grading Scale — SHS Grading System and Honors Requirements
Use this table to understand your General Average and honors under DepEd:

The table shows your General Average, but honors depend on more than just your average. You must not have a grade below 75 in any subject, and your conduct must also meet DepEd’s requirements. Your school makes the final decision.
SHS General Average vs College GWA
SHS and college use different grading systems. In SHS, your grades are percentages like 90 or 95. In college, grades change to the 1.00–5.00 scale, where lower numbers are better. College also uses credit units, so some subjects have a bigger effect on your GWA than others.
Senior High School
In SHS, your grades are percentages like 90 or 95. Higher numbers are better, and every subject counts equally when calculating your General Average.
College GWA
In college, grades change to the 1.00–5.00 scale, where lower numbers are better. College also uses credit units, so some subjects can have a bigger effect on your GWA than others.
DepEd Order No. 8, series of 2015 sets the grading system for Senior High School. It uses a percentage scale from 0 to 100, with 75 as the passing mark. Every subject carries equal weight, and the General Average is the simple average of all final grades.
Yes. All subjects on your report card are included, including applied and specialized subjects. Every subject carries equal weight in the SHS grading system, so no one is left out of the calculation.
